Hey guys! Long time no chat! FYI - I’m pretty much settled into my new home... still a few things I gotta resolve, but pretty much done! It seems to have very reliable wiring, as well as it allows for much newer technology than my old joint. So that’s good for the game long-term! Now, onto the real stuff… I’m sure you guys have noticed that it’s getting near the end of the year. That means several things : * I’m going to start rating sires for the upcoming season very soon. I generally start this the weekend following U.S. Thanksgiving (November 26th this year), and it takes every bit of time before the end of year roll-over to complete. So if you know of new, retiring, or improving/sliding sires, let me know! Also let me know what your opinion is on them (distance, surface, how good you think they may perform), and any internet links you have to back up your judgement. This is as much an art as it is a science. And, let’s be honest, there’s no way I can be personally familiar with all sires – having you guys point me in the right direction definitely helps out the game (as well as me.. )! * I’m going to start the "half price lower level sire" promotion I ran last year right now! Any sire that would normally be 125 points/credits or less will cost half price between now and the end of the year (minimum still 10 points/credits). This is to help you guys breed all those mares you have sitting around that you haven’t been able to convince yourself to pull the trigger on. Note - this is an “Online Only” sale, so you have to grab them online; bids won’t pick up the special price. * Thanks to a couple of perceptive and persuasive players, I did some research and have decided older horses need to keep their "peak performance" a bit longer. To accommodate this, I am going to start rolling in a few changes over the course of the next several months. Upcoming 2 year olds will run just a bit slower next year, and it will take next year’s crop of 3 year olds a bit longer in the season to hit the same potential their peers did this year (thought it won’t affect them vs older horses). This "dampening" will allow the formulas I have in place to extend the peak performance of these horses and allow them to have longer careers. I will also slow the deterioration of current 3 year olds, so they should perform better into their 4 year old season, and you may even see some current 4 year olds perform a bit better as 5 year olds this year. * Look for more posts from me soon as I need help with pedigrees, and a
few other updates as we get closer to year end / rollover. :) Thanks again for another great year, and I look forward to doing this another this another 17 years! --Mike
